Virtual Life in Germany

Create a virtual living situation in Germany.
  • Students live in a "family", they picked a first name and all share a typical German last name. Each person has a role in the "Family".
  • Students picked a city in a German speaking country.
  • Students must find three houses/ apartments in their chosen city.
  • Students must find three jobs in thier city.
  • I role (virtual) dice and that selects their job and home.
  • Students must find their way using public transportation to and from home and work.
  • Students must find two grocery stores near house and one near work.
  • Student must find two restaurants near house and one near work.
  • Students must provide the specials at the stores as well as opening times.
  • Students must find the menus to those restaurants as well as when opened.
  • Students write in German a time line of their day. (Um 6 Uhr stehe ich auf- I wake up at 6...) using the public transportation times to catch thier ride to work...
  • Students must find the main train station and the hospital closest to them.
  • Students will visit each other: Must buy train ticket to another city, give another group a virtual tour of their city. They make a powerpoint of this.
  • Students must find a newspaper of their city as well as a TV Station: Students will be able to read the news as well as listen to it.
  • Students must find something to do for the weekend as well as when their guests are coming (I provide them with dates for travel and visiting).
  • Students must find a hobby and tell where they go and what they do (for example> paint- where do you buy the supplies? Ride horses- where are the horses?)
  • If students choose to buy a car, they must provide insurance information, where the car is parked, directions to work and back home, etc.
  • Students provide an estimation of costs of two months including trip to another city.
  • Students write a resume including telephone number, schools visited, etc.
