Our story for the week is about Matthew Henson and his
exploration of the North Pole.
I have also exposed my students to literature about the Titanic during workshop time. Today, we watched a short United Streaming clip about the Titanic and the scientists who discovered it underwater. Afterwards, we connected all text pieces and the clip to discuss character traits and the qualities that characters have based on using background knowledge and context information. They have struggled with this skill all year and today they did a great job inferring!
